Battling acne can be a very frustrating and expensive experience. There is so much out there claiming to do this and do that and, a lot of time, all that results is a painful lesson in futility. So, before you become hopeless over your skin, look over what’s going on and some possible at home treatments to remedy the situation.

Acne is a hormonal response that causes the pilosebaceous unit to overreact and pump up the sebeaceous gland. During the teen years, the sebaceous can overcompensate its substance that keeps hair and skin moist. It’s called sebum and the overabundance causes acne. What about after you have become an adult? Hormonal change is the culprit as you grow older, and if imbalance presents itself, then, boom, no one is safe from an acne outbreak, and, therefore, it should be treated as a medical condition and not some juvie condition that’s a part of growing up. Bringing the hormones back into balance is the ultimate goal. Have a look at what you can do topically at home.

First, you want to find a way to gently clean your skin. The majority of soap is too drying and full of irritants, such as perfume and other additives. The challenge of buying an over the counter the product that is also going to be right for your skin is not easy to attain. Instead, why not try this?

The Milk Treatment

This will cleanse your skin in a gentle way and get some anti-inflammatory action hitting directly on the cause.

  1. Boil a ¼ cup of milk
  2. Dissolve an aspirin
  3. Mix with wooden spoon and allow to cool
  4. Warm your face with hot wash cloth (a comfortable temp). This will open your pores.
  5. The milk should be a nice temperature. Apply milk with a cotton ball all over your face.
  6. Hold a cotton ball soaked in milk to your affected areas for 30 seconds
  7. Switch out to new cotton ball for each area you treat 30 seconds
  8. Leave entire treatment on the face for 10 minutes, then rinse off with cool water, closing pores.

It does sound time consuming but the results may well be worth it. and as you get practice it will go faster. Twice a day will spawn maximum results.

Cool Relief Mask

The following was developed by a dermatologist looking for simpler ways to help his patients who may not have the means to try everything or maintain the treatment for the course of time it would take.

  1. One tablespoon of yogurt.
  2. One tablespoon of lemon.
  3. One tablespoon of oats.
  4. Mix all ingredients together.
  5. Apply the paste to the entire face.
  6. Allow to dry on face for 20 minutes.
  7. Rinse with cool water.

This mask can be used daily and results are immediate. Note: In removing mask, do not scrub face. Splash face till loosen, then blot off. When dealing with acne prone skin, always treat it as you would baby skin.
